This month, we're sharing what we've heard from our environmental education community when we asked, "What does USEE mean to you?" We hope you'll find these responses as inspiring as we do! Kicking off this series is Carmen Bachofen, USEE's Program Coordinator. She started at USEE this August and we love having her on the team!
As a recent college graduate and emerging professional USEE has been a major influence and support to me. Since I joined the USEE team in August as the Program Coordinator I have been given the opportunity to design and craft programs that I’m interested in, assist with planning an annual conference, and build a professional network.

This work has given me the ability to meet and connect with people involved in the field of Environmental Education throughout Utah and the country. Through growing this network I have consistently heard how USEE is a crucial resource for them and I am honored to have joined an organization that is thought of in such high regard.
To me, being at USEE is an invaluable opportunity. I was originally nervous (and crazy excited) to have been offered the Program Coordinator position. As a young professional, you worry if you’re truly up to the challenge and if you’ll be taken seriously. But with USEE I was given the help and freedom I needed to grow and build programs, create professional contacts, and gain more confidence in the field of EE.
I’m greatly looking forward to my future with the Utah Society of Environmental Education and providing more ways to connect all Utahns to their natural environment.
