Healthy Choices for Healthy Living
About the Great Basin Earth Institute
The Great Basin Earth Institute is a grassroots educational program that seeks to motivate individuals to examine and transform personal values and habits, to accept responsibility for the earth, and to act on that commitment. GBEI is part of a National Network of Earth Institutes that developed based on the work of the Northwest Earth Institute in Portland, Oregon. For more information about the history of the Northwest Earth Institute visit www.nwei.org.
Starting a Group
Getting involved in a discussion group is easy. If you know a group of people who are interested in forming a discussion group, USEE will help you get started. We first host an introductory meeting during which we describe each of the courses, provide details about what is involved in participating in a discussion course, and coordinate course logistics. Books are available for purchase once a class is formed.
A mentor will facilitate the first class. A mentor is someone who has taken a discussion course and has been trained to mentor groups. The mentor will help to lead the first discussion. The mentor acts as a liaison between you and the Great Basin Earth Institute.
