Conference Theme and Strands Theme: “Building Connections: Community, Knowledge, Action” Strands: Community - Presentations may cover topics such as developing community partnerships, human dimensions of EE, working with diverse audiences in the community, and providing community members with information to make ecologically responsible decisions. Knowledge - Presentations may cover topics such as local research, informational lectures, local flora and fauna, pedagogy, program/curriculum development, and local environmental history. Action - Presentations may cover stewardship projects, building interest and awareness, motivating citizens to get outdoors, and service learning.

The conference will take place Friday and Saturday, September 12-13 with a Special Presentation on Thursday evening at the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge in Brigham City, Utah. Schedule is subject to change.

Wetlands for Life, Including Us! Wetlands have a bounty of plants for a variety of applications including medicines, fiber, dyes, spiritual, and tools for many uses. We will explore the local wetlands for plants used by the indigenous people and pioneers and actually craft some items such as miniature boats and ducks from bulrush, and cordage from milkweed and dogbane fiber. Stories of plants from local tribes and pioneers will be included. The fieldtrip will be outdoors, so dress accordinglyhat, sunscreen, comfort.
Canoeing in Cutler Marsh Join us for a canoe trip in the wetland maze at Cutler Marsh. Enjoy some birding, dabble in water quality testing, take a look at the aquatic invertebrates living there, or just make a cattail duck to fl oat along with your canoe. We will have limited space for this workshop, so please RSVP by calling (801)328-1549.
Guidelines for Excellence in Environmental Education This workshop will introduce participants to the publications in the National Project for Excellence in Environmental Education (NAAEE) series. This set of Guidelines offers recommendations for designing and delivering high-quality environmental education programs, services, and materials. Participants will leave this training being able to: • identify the key characteristics of high-quality environmental education programs; • discuss the relationship between program design and program evaluation; and • describe how documents in the National Project for Excellence in environmental Education series can be used to develop quality programs.
Leave No Trace - Awareness Level Training Join up with the participants of the Leave No Trace Pre-Conference workshop to explore the Crimson Trail in Logan Canyon and practive Leave No Trace principles and ethics. Call Kathi Stopher at (435) 734-6438 for more info.

The conference will include a Share Fair at which time exhibitors can network with other conference attendees as well as the general public. Scholarships
Each year USEE works hard to raise funds for partial scholarships for educators to help ensure that costs do not restrict access to the conference. Scholarship applications are due August 1. Email
