Our Vision: The Utah Society for Environmental Education' vision is to cultivate ecological knowledge to build environmental consciousness that ensures economic, social, and environmental sustainability for Utah.
Our Mission: The Utah Society for Environmental Education’s mission is to provide statewide leadership to expand the quality, scope and effectiveness of environmental education. USEE strives to accomplish the mission through three areas of focus, Providing Leadership, Professionalizing Environmental Education and Strengthening the Organization. Providing Leadership USEE serves as an umbrella organization that guides, informs, and represents Utah environmental education (EE) providers and links state and national efforts.
Leadership goals include but are not limited to: • creating a communications strategy to promote select EE programs and initiatives; • building an ongoing research-driven case in support of EE; • developing EE quality assurance mechanisms; • providing statewide coordination of EE efforts; • celebrating and publicizing EE accomplishments; and • fostering innovation in programs that target ecological consciousness and environmental knowledge.
Professionalizing Environmental Education USEE helps educators and programs achieve a high of level of professionalism by establishing standards of knowledge, skills, experience and conduct.
Professionalizing Environmental Education goals includes but are not limited to: • providing professional development and networking opportunities; • promoting best practices for program implementation • establishing professional qualifications for environmental educators; • disseminating high-quality programs and resources; and • cultivating leaders for the field of EE.
Strengthening the Organization USEE achieves its mission through best management practices.
Strengthening the Organization goals include but are not limited to: • assuring financial security and sustainability; • engaging active Board of Directors and committees; • developing a vigorous communications strategy; • attracting and retaining skilled staff; • expanding the membership program (individuals and institutions); • cultivating organizational leadership.
